The Sailor's Plea

I wrote this poem a couple weeks ago -- just thought I'd add it for content. :p

The Sailor's Plea

Floor sees cards and scatters
Like the mice seen in the show
Where food was given freely
Like milk as cold as snow
The lighthouse bears upon us
The mark of shipwrecked seas
Its light gives little comfort
As sailors fall upon their knees

“I pray thee let me die now,
For the sea has claimed us half
From her turbulence, her waters,
We are meek beneath her wrath,
Our scars are battle weary
And our hearts fail to see why
You bid us keep her welcome
And forget us in the sky
My boy was only twelve once
And a young son by a pond
He left me weeping slowly
In the happy glow of dawn
And now the sea is screaming
And the waves have soaked my skin
I’m floating in the liquid
With no redemption for my sin,
But claim me, my dear saviour
As you promised once before
That trespasses be forgiven
Not acknowledged at the door
That spans the gap between the joyful
And the bars between the damned
Take me to your saving grace
Or let me rot on sand
But never let me die here
In the painful, in the dark
Where the fish can feast upon my flesh
Where my blood floats for the shark
Where the evil things that fly and spark
Can find me meek and mild
Take me to the ones I love
From this purgatory wild.”

And God looked down from his perch
He thought and thought and thought
But the sea drained dry
The river spent
The seamen clutched their hands
And died beneath an empty tide
Choking on dry land.

::sarah sovereign::

Actually, it was part of a longer poem when I wrote it, but the rest of it resembled a lot of the other stuff I've done. I liked the prayer of the seamen the best, so I just cut it out and added it. It probably needs more touching up, but ah well. If perchance, you *actually* happen to like it, please don't redistribute without my permission, ok..? Cos I have powers.. I can do things.. mmhahaha... [cue boiling cauldron and lots of cackling and warts and stuff]

Tra la la la

Okay, so I'm not as freaked out/obsessed about seventie's tunage as in my previous entries. I've had kind of a blah day, anyway. I s'pose I could listen to the Coconut song to cheer me up tho-- rather than listening to the usual depressing shit that I usually listen to when erm.. depressed.

Pause for call from telemarketer:

Telephone: Ring Ring..
I: Hello..?
Annoying Spawn of Satan: Hi, I'm looking for W.B. Gray..?
I: W.B. Gray? Oh, I'm sorry. He's dead.
Annoying Spawn of Satan: [sputters, stutters and the like] Oh dear! I'm so sorry!
I: Oh, that's ok. He's been dead for years. Horrible railroad accident. Never had a chance.
Annoying Spawn of Satan: I'm so sorry to have bothered you! Thank you for your time. [preceded by more gasping and stuttering and sputtering]
I: No problem! Bye!!
Telephone: Click

Later.. Now I feel better. Being deliciously evil always cheers one [namely me] up. yay!

yay orange!!

For those of you who aren't acquainted with Oz, I s'pose you wouldn't know about my extreme orange fetish. I had to take a break from it for awhile, cos I was getting *incredibly* sick of it, but after my brief citrus hiatus, I'm baaaaack. *woo!*

Ok.. I just checked out the new layout on my 800x600 comp, and I realize it's a *little* bit wide, but I'll see what I can do about that. I'll be tweaking and messing around with this layout for awhile -- I think this is one I'll stick with tho. God willing.

Geezuz!! I meant to be in bed about an hour ago. I'm sooo tired. And headachy from all that ammonia-d I inhaled earlier this afternoon, when I was going all pyscho on the windows/glass/anything in the house. I did get a little bit done tho -- I cleaned up my Nanny's room, the living room, made a tremendously good supper --if I do say so myself, and, ahem, I do. The basement is still a hideous mess, but ah well. Tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow.

omigod. I just got the Annie theme song in my head. GET IT OUT!! GET IT OUT!!

Great. That'll be with me until next Friday.

BTW -- Guess whose birthday is quickly approaching... ? *HINT HINT*
Tuesday, February 27, 2001 12:28 a.m.Yay!

and guess whose getting sick of the current layout..?

I don't know what's wrong with me!! I'm so restless lately. Dissatisfied with most everything I do. And the perfect design for this pita is perplexing. I do have an idea for a new layout.. I'll try and keep this one as long as possible, but I dunno...

And yes. When next you see me, feel free to beat me senseless.

Monday, February 26, 2001 01:10 a.m.Yay!

yawns.. checks clock.. yawns again...

I'm soo tired.. I'm well and truly on my way to completely zoning out I'm afraid. Nonetheless, here I remain, yes still rocking out, yes still soaking up monitor radiation, yes with my ass still invisibly glued to my chair. But really.. ? What the hell am I listening to?? Do I hear Eric Clapton..? *shudders uncontrollably* K, wait, give me a sec here..

*cue song change*

Ah.. what is with my new obsession for this song.. ? "I put the lime in the coconut.." sigh. lalala.

Geezuz but I'm silly tonight. I apologize. I'm gonna go to bed, so I can be sillier tomorrow. Nitey-nite!

Sunday, February 25, 2001 11:00 p.m.Yay!

You put the lime in the coconut...

One of my most favourite scenes in any movie I've ever watched is from 'Practical Magic', when Sandra Bullock wakes up and goes downstairs to see the aunts, where they have Midnight Margaritas.

Now, I'm afraid I'm listening to the song playing during that scene. [Coconut - Harry Nilsson]. And I'm afraid I may just be rocking out. Rocking out is defined by me swaying in my chair, perhaps snapping my fingers.. there is some definite head shaking going on, and an obscene amount of singing. Now, there are many songs that you can rockout to. For instance, Shout by Tears for Fears. Popcorn by Hot Butter. Time Warp by the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I find that the best rock out songs are queer tunes from years ago, that no one but me, or some other dork would ever *ever* admit to listening to.

But yes, I am currently rocking out to Coconut by Harry Nilsson.

2 minutes later

Sorry. I couldn't resist jumping out of my chair, kicking it back, and going "Flashdance".

Hm.. only now I crave margaritas. And have this itching urge to wear some spandex.. and a thick headband Olivia Newton-John style..
